Millipore has launched ProSep Protein A and Protein G family of media products, as well as its Controlled Pore Glass (CPG) and derivatized CPG matrices for chromatography applications. Combined with Millipore’s Contract Immobilization Services, these media options span a broad range of applications, including antibody purification and unique uses requiring customized solutions.

Available in animal-free or recombinant form, the ProSep Protein A and Protein G family of chromatography media is optimized for high throughput affinity purification of antibodies. Simple to use, these cost effective adsorbents offer high flow rates for process efficiency.

The CPG matrices are manufactured as an inorganic support for use in liquid chromatography and related processes. Incompressible and very durable, CPG matrices maintain their properties, including size, in different solutions. The chromatography support can be designed specifically for the size of the molecule to be purified, as well as the ligand to be used, from an extensive selection of pore diameters with narrow pore size distribution and large internal surface area.

The surface of Millipore’s derivative CPG matrices provides reactive functional groups for covalent attachments of ligands. In addition, the media’s well-defined particle size, pore size and pore volume, and surface area are critical to achieve high efficiency, purity and reproducibility for solid phase DNA synthesis. The company’s derivatized CPG matrices come in a variety of chemistries and pore sizes, informed company sources.

Millipore’s comprehensive Contract Immobilization Services offer custom media solutions for the development of immobilized proteins, peptides, antibodies, chemicals and enzymes. A team of in-house media specialists solve customers’ purification problems with the application and engineering expertise needed for increased flexibility.

As a leader in high quality membrane and media products, Millipore has successfully identified and developed a method to bring customers direct OEM engineering support throughout the development phase. Professional support is offered with capabilities including SEM analysis, protocol review and contract immobilization, stated company sources.

Millipore is a bioprocess and bioscience products and services global major organized into two divisions. The Bioprocess Division offers solutions that optimize development and manufacturing of biologics. The Bioscience Division provides high performance products and application insights that improve laboratory productivity. The company employs approximately 4,500 people worldwide and posted revenues of $883 million in 2004.
