The Hyderabad-based Nandan Biomatrix, an integrated company focusing on nutraceuticals, is planning to introduce a series of products in the aphrodisiac and well-ness segment. The company is coming out with eight specialty products enriched with Safed Musli. These products are expected to be launched by July end, 2006.
It is planning to introduce products addressing various disorders and promote health with brand names such as Bio-Rhythm, Aedy's, Bio-synergy, Sorgasm, Gynocs, Prrotec, Memorie and Nurture. The company will initially introduce these products in India and expects to achieve sales worth Rs 15 crore within first year of launch.
Nandan plans to target key overseas markets such as the US, Germany, Middle East, Malaysia and Japan. It will market the products globally through marketing collaborations.
V Bhaskar Rao, managing director of Nandan Biomatrix said the company has identified 25 herbs and is carrying out extensive research on these herbs. Nandan has integrated facilities that enable standardisation of herbal extracts, produce standardised bulk extracts, APIs and develop specialty formulations.
Safety, stability and efficacy studies have been carried out on Safed Musli. Phase II trials were carried out at Hyderabad and Jaipur, involving 240 subjects. The company has obtained manufacturing approval and GMP certification from the authorities.
The global aphrodisiac market is currently estimated at US$ 3.8 billion and is likely to increase up to US$ 6.6 billion by 2012. The market is dominated by chemical drugs like Viagra, Levitra and Cialis.
The company is also in the process of introducing health drinks based on Aloe Vera and combination of Aloe Vera, Safed Musli and Stevia. First Aloe Vera based products are likely to hit market in next two months, official sources said.
