The Hyderabad-based Natco Pharma Ltd has launched Vorizol (Voriconazole) - a new generation anti-fungal drug.

According to the company release, Vorizol effectively helps in the treatment of fungal infections that are resistant to traditional therapies. It tackles the opportunistic invasive mycoses by increasing morbidity and mortality in patients suffering from cancer and AIDS and in patients who have undergone organ transplants.

A triazole antifungal, Vorizol is effective against Amphotericin B, Itraconazole and Fluconazole resistant pathogens. It is also excellent in brain penetration.

Vorizol is available in the form of 200 mg tablets and 200 mg injection. Vorizol has been priced most economically - almost at half of the price of the imported medicine, the release stated.
