The century-old General Hospital will emerge with a new face next month as a new block is all set to start functioning at the hospital.
The new block with state-of-the-art facilities is being built with the help of funds available under the schemes like the Central Government sponsored Cancer Care Centre and Diagnostic Centre and the State Government sponsored Cancer Care Centre. The new block is getting its final touches and will be ready in the next couple of weeks, said the officials of Kitco Limited.
The ground floor of the new building will house sections like casualty, observation, operation theatre complex with four theatres, Medical Intensive Care Unit, Intensive Coronary Care Unit, new-born baby unit, Intensive Care Unit, post operative and gynecology ward and burn unit.
The first floor will have cancer-care wards and general surgical wards for both male and female patients, ENT and dental departments, Ophthalmology department, laboratory and conference room.
Surgical equipment, ultra sound and X-Ray equipment, machinery for ICU, eye care and ENT, ECG, CT Scan and EEG machines, equipment for pathology lab, maternal and child-care like neo natal ventilators, incubators, photo therapy units, fetal heart monitors have also been bought. In addition to all these machinery, critical equipment ventilators, vacuum splint kit and collapsible stretcher will also be added to the Trauma Care Centre. A high-tech fully air-conditioned ambulance with all modern facilities will be the first of its kind in the State.
The project is implemented by Hospital Development Committee under the leadership of District Collector Gyanesh Kumar with consultancy assistance from Kitco Limited. With the opening of the new block, city residents will have a chance for medical care with modern facilities at an affordable cost.
