A one week training program for hospital pharmacists from Himachal Pradesh was organized at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education & Research (NIPER). This program, which included 22 sessions of interaction & visit to a hospital in Chandigarh, was attended by a number of participants pooled from various districts of the neighbouring state.There were pharmacists as young as 20 years to 50 years age.
One of the objectives this week long continuing Professional Development Programme was to increase the day to day productivity of pharmacists.To meet this, senior professionals were invited who discussed issues like inventory management, good storage practices, medication errors, dose calculation, professional ethics & good pharmacy/dispensing practices.Many of the sessions were followed by a problem solving activity.
The valedictory function was held at NIPER on December 21, 2002 Saturday. Department of Pharmacy Practice is planning to conduct similar courses in future also.
