NPPA revises prices for Pfizer's Solu Medrol, Medrol batches

The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has revised the maximum retail price (MRP) inclusive of all taxes of seven batches of Pfizer's Solu Medrol and Medrol, a corticosteroid given to people with multiple sclerosis (MS) to shorten relapses.

According to the NPPA notification, issued on December 10, the price for three batches of Solu Medrol AOV 500 mg in pack size 4 ml vial has been increased from Rs 653.66 per vial to Rs 664.75 MRP inclusive of all taxes and Rs 639.18 exclusive of all taxes.

Another two batches of Solu Medrol AOV 1000 mg in package size of 8 ml vial has been re-fixed from the existing retail price of Rs 1046.28 per vial to Rs 1064.18 per vial inclusive of all taxes and Rs 1023.25 per vial exclusive of all taxes.

Price for four batches of Medrol 4 mg with pack size of 10 X 10's strip/blister, has been revised from the existing retail price of Rs 338.86 to Rs 344.05 as MRP inclusive of all taxes and Rs 330.82 as retail price exclusive of all taxes.

The prices fixed are the maximum retail prices inclusive of all taxes for the specified pack and packs of similar strength, and company cannot claim exemption on any ground there from, unless specifically permitted by the Government or NPPA through an order, explains the pricing authority in the notification. The manufacturer has to comply with the ceiling prices revised within 15 days from the date of notification, added the notification.
