In its endeavour to give further boost to pharmaceutical exports in the country, the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kenyan government under which the Kenyan government will work closely towards supporting Indian pharmaceutical exporters to meet the regulatory requirements.
While Pharmexcil chairman Dinesh B Modi and additional ED Reghuveer Kini signed the MoU on behalf of the Pharmexcil, Dr Ronald M Inyangala signed the dotted line for the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, Ministry of Health, Government of Kenya here on February 14.
Under the MoU, the Pharmexcil and the Pharmacy and Poison Board will work closely towards supporting Indian pharmaceutical exporters to meet the regulatory requirements of the Board. Besides, the Board will communicate to Pharmexcil any requirements and information about the Indian companies that may be necessary for registration of products in Kenya.
The Pharmexcil will act as a nodal agency for interfacing with the government bodies in India on behalf of Pharmacy and Poisons Board for effective and smooth coordination. Under the MoU, Pharmexcil will offer assistance to the representatives of the Board involved in their official duties while visiting India.
Pharmexcil will also facilitate training opportunities to the Board's technical officials at National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) and other government agencies, who are involved in such training. Under the agreement, the Pharmacy and Poisons Board together with Pharmexcil will work to enable positive interaction between the Board and the Pharmexcil members to achieve faster registration of products in Kenya.
