Pharmexcil offers help to Chemexcil members to tide over current crisis
The office bearers of Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil) have assured the union commerce minister to take care of all the problems of the drug exporting community. The council also made a commitment before the minister to solve the complaints being made by the exporting community currently attached to the Basic Chemicals Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics Export Promotion Council (Chemexcil).
Speaking to pharmabiz.com after the meeting, Venkat Jasti, vice chairman, Pharmexcil said that the council has convinced the minister on the need to retain the exclusivity granted to Pharmexcil in handling drug export promotion activities.
"We have assured the minister that no drug exporter will face any trouble in exports due to non-availability of Registration Cum Membership Certificate (RCMC) from Chemexcil. Now that Pharmexcil has been declared as the sole RCMC issuing authority for drug exporters, all the drug exporters aligned with Chemexcil who are yet to become Pharmexcil members can drop in to our council with a proof of their Chemexcil membership and collect RCMC within 24 hours," he said.
On the Chemexcil's plea to continue their role in fulfilling the international commitments, Pharmexcil informed the minister that they were willing to take up the responsibility and organise all pharma events that have been committed by Chemexcil last year. "There is no question of failing to honour international commitments as Pharmexcil can take up the job that has been left behind by Chemexcil," he said. "Chemexcil had tried to create a wrong impression that most of the SSI exporters are continuing with that council and are not showing interest in our council. We have convinced the minister that most of the beneficiaries of the programmes organised by Pharmexcil are the small players and not the big companies. Pharmexcil is the platform for SSI sector," he explained.
Pharmexcil also informed the minister that all the problems that are likely to be faced by the Chemexcil's drug panel members during this transitional phase of moving out from one council to another, will be taken care of.
