A two-day post graduate national seminar on oral medicine and radiology, organized by the Indian Academy of Oral Medicine and Radiology (IAOMR), was held at the Ambassador Pallava Hotel at Egmore in Chennai, last week.
Inaugurating the conference, Dr.S.Thanikachalam, Vice-Chancellor, Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute (Deemed University), said the training sessions at the seminar would not only help the dentists to train themselves in advanced dental care, but also would raise the level of oral healthcare management.
Dentistry has become an integral part of medicinal strategies and other specialties to aid team management in healthcare activities. Dentists are professionals well trained in oral medicine to diagnose oral lesions and facial pain. They could interact on a professional basis with appropriate medical practitioners in respective areas of expertise in planning and carrying dental treatment, said Thanikachalam.
The seminar covered topics like early recognition of oral cancer, focal sepsis and reactive systemic manifestation, focal infection as a nidus for a bacterimia and its consequences, alternative medicine in keeping oral health and increasing use of imaging technology in identification pathology. More than 130 delegates, comprising students and teachers from different parts of the country, participated in the conference.
Dr.Gnanasundaram Organising Chairman of the conference, Dr.C.V.Mohan, President of IAOMR, Dr.Baig, Dean, Savitha Dental College, and Dr.S.Sasthasiva Subramaniam, Organising Secretary of the seminar, spoke on the occasion.
