Life sciences informatics major, Strand Genomics, has entered into a distribution agreement with Hitachi Software Engineering for its product 'Avadis', used for data analysis techniques and in software engineering to micro-array gene expression data analysis.

Avadis has a combination of scalable analytical algorithms with powerful and interactive visualization to derive valuable insights from the data. It provides a wide range of clustering techniques and statistical tests that make up the complete analysis toolset.

"Avadis is recognised as promising software, which is user-friendly," said Katsunori Masaki, Manager, Bioinformatics Division, Hitachi Software Engineering Co., Ltd.

"Hitachi's knowledge of technology and customer requirements coupled with our expertise in data mining will allow researchers in Japan to have the best product for analysing micro array gene expression data," said Vijay Chandru, CEO of Strand Genomics.
