United States Pharmacopeia Convention Inc. is organising a symposium on the USP verification programme at Hyderabad on February 1, 2006. Senior officials of the organisation will make presentations at the event.

The United States Pharmacopeia Convention Inc. is the authorised agency by the United States Government for prescribing standards to pharmaceutical substances and dosage forms included under United States Pharmacopeia (USP).

This organisation has been running a verification programme for dietary supplements and ingredients that are used in the neutraceuticals industry. The certificates issued by the agency under this programme are useful to the manufacturers for the sale and promotion of their products.

Additionally, the United States Pharmacopeia Convention Inc. has recently obtained their Board approval to extend this programme to bulk drugs (APIs) and excipients also. The organisation has also opened its Indian subsidiary in India at Hyderabad.
