TTK Healthcare Limited, the Chennai based pharmaceutical arm of the business conglomerate TTK Group, is setting up a new manufacturing facility to expand its export activity in a big way.
The company has acquired a five acre plot in the Mahindra City, the fully planned and integrated business city promoted through private public partnership model, to set up a manufacturing facility in an area of around 50,000 sq.ft. The facility including an R&D lab will initially concentrate on herbal drug research and production. Manufacturing of allopathic drug preparations will be taken up later, according to the company officials.
The facility, coming up at an investment of Rs 15 crore, will have a capacity to handle 25,000 bottles of liquid, 30,000 capsules and 60 lakh tablets per day. The company expecting TGA and MCC approvals for the plant is expected to commence production by the end of current financial year, according to Dr Surinder Kumar, General Manager-Marketing, TTK Healthcare Ltd.
The new facility will strengthen company's export activity and the two-year-old marketing division, TTK Ventura along with contract manufacturing sector. According to the company sources, TTK's new export division will commence operation by the beginning of financial year 2007-08. The officials said that the new division would focus on regulated markets.
TTK Ventura, with plans to become a major player in the nutraceutical and herbal products, will be soon adding a nutritional intervention bio energizer with its male infertility segment consisting five products. The division expects to launch this product by the month of August 2006.
A product to prevent pre-eclampsia a common disorder seen in pregnant women and a nutritional supplement to improve prostate health and prevent Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH), are also in various stages of trials and is expected to come out by the second quarter of current financial year. A protein preparation with additional protein specific growth factors to increase the resistance level of children under the age of five is also planned to introduce by the time.
The company, with more than 50 per cent of its sales from Gynaecology, is also planning to introduce a poly herbal drug for treating kidney stone and another poly herbal immunomodulator liquid. The products are under development the sources said.
TTK Ventura has plans to increase its current strength of 200 field personnel to 350 by 2007, spreading all over India. The division added three products, Delivera Cream a first time combination of Aloe Vera, Curcuma, Olive oil and Wheat germ oil to prevent dryness and stretching of skin, Climacter a combination to tackle the symptoms of menopause and to reduce the risk of osteoporotic fractures, cardiovascular diseases etc. in post menopausal women and Protogen G, a DHA enriched protein supplement for pregnant women to ensure proper foetal brain development in FY06.
