Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram will inaugurate the seventh edition of the Bangalore Bio which is being held between June 7 and 9, 2007 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), Tumkur Road.
The presence of finance minister proves the importance the Union government is attaching to biotechnology sector. There will be more financial support, addressing of key issues put forth by the industry and encouragement from government towards innovative research and skill based projects, stated Dr Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, chairman, vision group on biotechnology and CMD, Biocon Limited.
The sector which provides direct employment to 25,000 scientific personnel is registering a 40 per cent growth in terms of job opportunities. The Centre is impressed with the growth of the sector. Hopefully issues affecting the sector will be taken care in the coming years, stated Dr Shaw.
Bangalore Bio 2007 will have 85 national and international speakers, 600 conference delegates, 20,000 business visitors from 15 countries.
