The International adjudicators of St Laurent Institute and George Washington University have selected Professor Bhushan Patwardhan to honour with Merit of Excellence Award in recognition of his dedication, devotion and contributions in the field of Ayurveda.

The award will be presented to him during the 4th International Conference on Medicinal Plants & Herbal Products [ICMPH-4] Ayurmedica 2012 (Herbal Expo-2012) which is scheduled from September 6-8, 2012 at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland, USA. Prof. Patwardhan will also deliver a keynote address.

Dr Patwardhan has been Director of Interdisciplinary School of Health Sciences, University of Pune and Director of Institute of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine Bangalore. Presently he is the vice chancellor of Symbiosis International University. He has made significant contributions to evidence-based Ayurveda and herbal drug technology. His pioneering work on genetic basis to concept of Prakriti has led to a new discipline known as AyuGenomics. He is one of the top cited authors with over 100 papers, 6 Indian, 3 US Patents. He is founder Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Ayurveda & Integrative Medicine and on Editorial Boards of several scientific Journals.

The 4th International Conference on Medicinal Plants & Herbal Products is jointly organised by School of Medicine and Health Sciences, The George Washington University, Washington DC in collaboration with International Council for Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (ICMAP), Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, India and University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, with the support of Biotechnology Centre, Maryland, USA, Embassy of India, Washington DC, Amarex Clinical Research and Gennova Biopharmaceuticals Ltd, India. The aim of the Conference is to provide a platform for eminent researchers, academicians, physicians, traditional medical practitioners, manufacturers and exporters of herbal products, representative of the corporate sector, marketing consultants and NGOs from all over the world.
