AICTE issues notification for GPAT 2013 for students into PG pharmacy courses
Our Bureau, Hyderabad | Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 08:00 Hrs  [IST]

The All India Council for Technical education (AICTE) has released notification for Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) 2013 for admitting students into Post Graduate (PG) Pharmacy courses for the academic year 2013-14.

GPAT 2013 examination is conducted by AICTE since 2010-11. The notification is issued to announce the schedule for conducting computer based online GPAT for admission for academic year 2013-14. In fact AICTE has been conducting the national level GPAT in paper pencil mode, but this year it is going for computer based online test to avoid the hassles of the conventional paper test.

In this new format of online testing for GPAT, the testing window will be open for three days i.e. from May 16-18, 2013 in 57 cities across the country. The candidates will have the option of selecting date and city for appearing in the test.

The registration for the test has started from March 8, 2013 and will be closed on April 8, 2013. The students can download their hall tickets from April 29, 2013 onwards and can appear the computer based test from May 16-18, 2013. The online test will be held in two shifts i.e., morning from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and in the evening from 2.30 to 5.30 pm.

Students interested to appear in the test should have a four year bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy after 10+2 and those who are in final year of B. Pharm course can also appear for the GPAT. The results of the test will be declared on May 31, 2013 and students can have their scored cards printed up to June 30, 2013.

For selecting the online exam centres students can opt up to three cities in the order of preference and the centres will be allotted based on first come first served and subject to availability of the slots in a particular city.

“To facilitate and ease nation wide post graduate pharmacy admissions across different states, AICTE will provide a detailed merit list to all the respective state governments. And the students will be allotted seats through central counselling or as per notified admission procedures,” informed Dr K P Isaac, member secretary, AICTE.
