eClinicalWorks to expand with investment of $30 mn in India, to offer cloud-based tech in healthcare
The US-based eClinicalWorks, a healthcare IT solutions major, has pumped in $30 million to further digital healthcare in Asia, specifically India. The company will develop talent and cloud-based technology infrastructure in this region. These efforts coincide with the Digital India initiative aimed at ensuring various services, including healthcare-related ones, are made available to citizens electronically. The company has Indian presence at Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Bengaluru with over 50 hospitals using its solutions.
The investment enables to build a similar cloud-based technology infrastructure in India, delivering digital healthcare for Hospital Management Information System (HMIS), cloud-based patient medical records solution for physicians and connecting patients with doctors via mobile apps available on iOS and Android, said Girish Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks.
The 16-year-old eClinicalWorks has established the largest cloud-based healthcare platform in the US, delivering healthcare information technology solutions in the form of electronic patient medical records, population health and patient engagement tools for over 1,15,000 doctors. Tele health capabilities allow patients to access doctors via mobile phones, enabling immediate medical attention, regardless of location. Further, the technology allows bringing medical expertise to rural areas where access to healthcare may not be near.
The HMIS covers automating processes from patient registration through discharge. Emergency room services, documenting patient care, managing tests, blood banks and the surgical theatre are all covered.
With physicians: eClinicalWorks’ flagship product, cloud-based patient medical records solution would be offered to streamline the doctor’s office. The objective is to improve the quality of care for healthcare which can be accessed via computer, tablet or mobile device. It also aids with practice management and billing.
The company is now looking to advance its patient engagement to improve health outcomes. With over 20 crore patients’ records managed by eClinicalWorks’ technology worldwide, the company offers several tools for these initiatives, including mobile apps available on iOS and Android.
“We have dedicated our professional careers to improving the delivery of healthcare by providing technology and services to lower costs, reduce errors and enhance the quality of care,” said Navani, CEO.
eClinicalWorks has built a successful infrastructure that has positively impacted care in the US. As we look to expand, India offers opportunities that are in line with our vision. We would work in this country, laying a technology foundation for healthcare organizations, offering their patients optimal care,” he added.
The company has over 4,300 team personnel worldwide. There are 1,15,000 doctors using its solutions, customers include physician practices, hospitals, health centers, departments of health, accountable care organisations and convenient care clinics.
