The Union health ministry has reconstituted the Drugs Technical Advisory Board (DTAB) which is the highest decision-making body under the Union health ministry on technical matters. Director General of Health Services (DGHS) is the ex-officio chairman of this statutory body which is constituted by the ministry under section 5 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
Dr Jagdish Prasad, Director General of Health Services, is the chairman of the newly formed DTAB. Dr G N Singh, Drugs Controller General (India), is the member secretary of the Board.
C Hariharan, Director in-charge, Central Drugs Laboratory, Kolkata; Dr Sunil Gupta, Director, Central Research Institute, Kasauli (HP); Dr B Suresh, president, Pharmacy Council of India (PCI); Dr H G Koshia, Commissioner, FDCA, Gujarat; Sudhir Mehta, chairman, MIS Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Ahmedabad; Dr Rao V S V Vadlamudi; Madhuranagar, Hyderabad; Sheju Purushothaman, Government Analyst, Regional Drug Testing Laboratory, Kakanad, Ernakulum; and Dr Nilima Kshirasagar, Chair in Clinical Pharmacology, ICMR are some of the members of the new DTAB.
Dr G B Gupta, Prof and Head, Department of Medicine, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Medical College, Raipur, Chatisgarh; Prof M. D. Karvekar, H.S.R. Lay Out, Bengaluru; O. S. Sadhawani, Controlling authority & Joint Commissioner, Food & Drugs Administration, Mumbai; Dr Ashim Ghatak, Rep., Central Drugs Research Institute, Lucknow; Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad, Rep., Medical Council of India; Dr. A. Marthanda Pillai, Ananthapuri Hospital and Res. Institute, Thiruvananthapuram; Sushma M. Saptarshi, Government Analyst, Drugs Control Laboratory, Mumbai; and the Director, Indian Veterinary Research Institute, lzatnagar are the other members of the newly constituted DTAB.
Dr. V. G. Somani, Joint Drugs Controller, CDSCO, New Delhi; Lalit Kishore, Consultant, DCG(I); A K. Pradhan, Deputy Drugs Controller, CDSCO, New Delhi; and R Chandrasekhar, Deputy Drugs Controller (India), CDSCO, New Delhi are the representatives of CDSCO in the DTAB.
The newly constituted DTAB held its first meeting on 16th February, 2015.
