Pharmexcil to organize buyer-seller meet at Arogya-2012 in Sri Lanka on Aug 17-19
For the first time, the pharmaceutical export promotion council of India (Pharmexcil) is planning to organize an exclusive expo-cum-buyer seller meet (BSM) at Arogya-2012 international healthcare exhibitions to be held in Sri Lanka. The event is scheduled to be conducted from August 17-19, 2012 at Colombo.
The Arogya-2012 international event is one of the biggest events in Sri Lanka in the field of healthcare and pharmaceutical sector in the recent times. The event is being organized by Sri Lankan National chamber of commerce in partnership with the ministry of health in that country.
The Arogya-2012 exhibition is expected to highlight the potential capabilities of Sri Lankan healthcare and pharmaceutical industry. Another significant objective of this event is that the Island nation is looking for more investments from countries like India and others in the field of healthcare and pharmaceuticals.
Analysts believe that in the recent times Sri Lanka has become one of the best hubs for healthcare and health education in south Asia.
Taking this into view, the Pharmexcil is taking Arogya-12 as an opportunity to enhance India’s pharma exports to that country. With the support of Indian High commission and Sri Lankan chamber of commerce, the council is preparing the groundwork for the grand event and making extensive efforts to invite about 300 local buyers and importers for the event. B2B meetings and one-on-one meetings are also expected at the event. The council is also planning to organize exclusive meetings with FDA/Health Ministry officials at the event. Senior officials from Department of Commerce and Industry are expected to join the Indian delegation to promote bilateral trade and investments between India and Sri Lanka.
Today as the Indian pharmaceutical industry is marking its imprints in the entire world and is known for its low cost high quality pharma and healthcare medical products, Arogya 2012 gives Indian pharmaceutical industries an apt opportunity to exhibit their capabilities and explore the untapped areas in the island nation.
Already Sri Lanka is one of the important exporting destinations for Indian pharma industry. For the year 2010-11, the Indian pharmaceutical exports to Sri Lanka have reached Rs.578.92 crore.
As the Sri Lanka government is offering many incentives for those who wish to form joint ventures with the local pharmaceutical companies, Arogya 2012 is a great opportunity for the Indian players to explore new market opportunities and grab a good chunk of healthcare and pharma markets in the island nation.
